Welcome to Peach County

The Peach County Chamber of Commerce serves as the voice of small and large businesses alike with the goal of ensuring the future of Peach County by fostering and supporting carefully planned growth.

The ongoing role of the Peach County Chamber of Commerce is to lead the business community by serving as its advocate, promoting the county, enhancing the business climate and providing quality membership programs and services.

Reception for New Fort Valley State University President

Everyone’s invited and encouraged to come to Blue Bird Tuesday, October 24th – 6:30-7:30 p.m.

A community-wide reception for the new President of Fort Valley State University is planned for Tuesday evening, October 24th, at Blue Bird Body Company in Fort Valley. The time will be from 6:30 until 7:30 that evening.

While the Chamber of Commerce is spearheading the event, the Chamber is joined by the City of Fort Valley, the City of Byron, the Peach County Commissioners, the Fort Valley Utility Commission, the Peach County Board of Education, and the Hospital Authority of Peach County.

Chamber President Gene Sheets said that it is significant that the participation of all the governmental bodies speaks to the universality of the community’s welcome for Dr. Rivers. “We’re all reaching out to him, just as he is reaching out to the community,” said President Sheets.

Sheets said that it is also significant that the event is being held at Blue Bird Body Company, the county’s largest employer, as a symbol of the connection of the business community with the University. “It’s clear to us that President Rivers intends to do more business at home in Peach County, and we want to let him know how much we appreciate his ambition and his drive. We all look forward to the growth at Fort Valley State University. We want to do everything we can as a community for the University to succeed."

From The President

March and April have been very busy for the Chamber.  Matthew wilhoit and I recently met with the Warner Robins Chamber President - Frank Feild, Alicia Chrones - Director of Member Services and Tracey McCollister - Editor of Buyers Connection, to exchange Chamber Ideas.

Several Chamber Members attended teh Fort Valley State University Convocation and met Dr. Larry Rivers, the new President.  We also had members attend the Ribbon Cutting at a new business in Byron, "Shaping Up, Her Fitness and Wellnes Studio", owned by Maria Castellano.

The Chamber Horse Show Committee met at Southern Valley Ranch, where the horse show will take place, to make further plans for the July 15th Horse show.

We had a Groundbreaking Ceremony on Thursday, March 30th for Plane Living Gly-In Community.

We published our first newsletter since I have been back at the Chamber.  Compliments go to Amber, our student secretary and a senior from Peach County High School, for her dedication and good work with typing and arranging it.

We appreciate the individuals who are volunteering to help with these activities.
